New for 2021!

Each year Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire host the Winter and Summer School Games festivals. Around 1700 children and young people, supported by a team of Young Leaders take part in the county Games events, which are underpinned by six values: respect, team work, determination, self-belief, honesty and passion. This year we will be adding a Spring and Autumn Games alongside our established winter and summer festivals!

Herefordshire Virtual School Games

Due to the unprecedented nature of COVID-19, we had to take the unfortunate decision of cancelling the Herefordshire Summer School Games events. However, we didn't want pupils to miss out! To celebrate the Summer Games, Active Herefordshire & Worcestershire and Stride Active teamed up once again to host a week-long festival of challenges, aimed towards pupils both at school and at home.

Over 3000 young people and 35 schools took part in the inaugural Herefordshire Virtual School Games. Commencing with an Opening Ceremony, children took part in tennis, athletics, rugby, dance and basketball competitions before wrapping up in a closing ceremony on Friday. Local, national and international sporting stars including international dancer Chris Knight, professional basketball player Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Welsh Steeple Chaser, Tiegan Ward, were also on hand to inspire the children sending their messages of support.
