This Girl Can school activation funding announced
Posted: Tue, 18 Feb 2020 12:22
Following the success of 'This Girl Can' in Herefordshire and Worcestershire so far, this year we are planning to take our This Girl Can campaign one step further, with the expansion to a year-long programme, aimed at inspiring women and girls of all ages and backgrounds, both in school and within the community.
As part of the 12-month campaign, we have highlighted 9th-20th March 2020 as the Worcs/Here Girls Can School focus. This year we offered schools the opportunity to apply for funding of up to £250 from Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire to deliver activities and programmes targeting the most inactive and disengaged girls between the ages of 13 and 16. In terms of inactive, this is defined as anyone who averages under 30 minutes of physical activity per week (not including curriculum PE).
We are delighted to fund the following 13 Herefordshire and Worcestershire schools to support the delivery of This Girl Can:
- Aylestone School
- Kingstone Academy
- John Kyrle High School
- Whitecross School
- St Mary's RC High School
- Wolverley High School
- Trinity High School
- South Bromsgrove High School
- Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College
- Nunnery Wood High School
- Tudor Grange Academy Worcester
- Bishop Perowne C of E College
- Prince Henry's High School
Huw Griffiths, Project Manager for Children and Young People at Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire said, "Our regional This Girl Can campaign presents a unique and exciting opportunity to re-frame sport and physical activity for women and girls across the two counties. Since its inception in 2015, the project has gone from strength-to-strength and we are delighted to take it one step further this year, with the expansion to a 12-month campaign."
"We were inundated with high quality applications for our new school activation funding this year and are excited to support a number of innovative campaigns within our Herefordshire and Worcestershire schools."
