The report sets out a range of recommendations for the government, which are supported by 10 principles, and builds on the work the government has already done.
UK Physical Activity Guidelines
The Department of Health and Social Care have released a set of physical activity guidelines to help assist health professionals, policymakers and others working to promote physical activity, sport and exercise for health benefits.
This is a response to the raising levels of chronic health conditions that we see in today's society. In a bid to improve the UK population's health and wellbeing, physical activity guidelines have been set out how to get active as easy as possible.

This report is a UK-wide document presenting the UK Chief Medical Officers' (CMO) new Physical Activity Guidelines for different age groups, covering the volume, duration, frequency and type of physical activity required across the life course to achieve general health benefits. The guidelines present thresholds for the achievement of optimal health benefits at the recommended levels of physical activity in terms of strength, moderate and vigorous physical activity, and balance activities.
This is an update on the previous 2011 guidelines.
