West Midlands Community Sports Awards

Nominations for the West Midlands Community Sports Awards are now open!

Organised by the six County Sports Partnerships in the West Midlands, in partnership with BBC Midlands and University of Birmingham Sport, the West Midlands Community Sports Awards aims to recognise and celebrate the power of sport within local communities.

The six County Sports Partnerships - Sport Birmingham, Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent (SASSOT), Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire Sport, Black County BeActive Partnership and Energize Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin - will work together to recognise the most deserving sports stars, coaches, volunteers, clubs and projects from across the West Midlands at this high profile, star-studded event.

The categories for 2018 include Community Coach of the Year, Community Club of the Year, Community Project of the Year and Aspiring Talent as well as two special BBC awards; the BBC Local Radio Power of Sport Award and Unsung Hero award, the regional winner of which will be announced at the ceremony.

Thank you to everyone who made a local nomination for the West Midlands Community Sports Awards. We had a number of exceptional nominations and our local shortlisted nominees is as follows:

Aspiring Talent - Matt Richards (Worcester Swimming Club)

Community Coach of the Year - Danielle Miles-Ranger (Leigh and Bransford Badgers Football Club)

Community Club of the Year - Worcester Mixed Ability Rugby Club

Community Project of the Year - Worcester Taxi Super League

Power of Sport - Lewis Higgs
